Filament Feed Issues with Da Vinci 1.0

Postby brimstone326 » Sat Sep 10, 2016 4:56 pm

Hello,

I've been fighting this issue off and on for several months. The filament will just stop feeding, no clicks, no nothing... it just stops. The filament always shows teeth marks and a worn area after it's removed.

I've lost a lot of prints, but then I can go a couple weeks with no issues.

I removed the spring and idler wheel and discovered the peg the idler wheel rides on is heavily worn. The wheel had a lot of burrs on the back of it that I had to file off. I need to know what the distance, center to center, is between the idler and the drive wheel. I think the damage has moved the idler wheel too far away from the drive wheel. I'm afraid to push too hard on the peg because it is worn and may snap.

Oddly, it almost never has an issue when I use the load cartridge option to feed filament. I did notice that it slows down and if I squeeze the motor and the lever arm of the idler it begins to feed better. What I can't see is if the squeezing is deflecting the idler peg further away or closer to the drive wheel.

Any ideas?

The last time I tried to contact XYZ for parts it took a month to tell me it would be a month before they could give me a "quote" on the part I needed.

I'm going to use this poxy material to attempt a repair

I filled the entire inner diameter of the idler wheel

I'll use the front face as a guide for drilling out the center after it's cured for a few days.

I'm not as hopeful about the damage to the idler guide pin. I'm not sure how well this poxy will surface bond to the metal.

Sorry about the multiple replies to my own post, but being limited to 3 attachments at 256x256 is kind of annoying.

when it loads the filament, it will eject some from the nozzle you will see it hanging out.

i had the same problem since it was my 1st time loading filament, i just had to push it in a lot more than i thuoght it had to go. Don't be scared, i dont think you can hurt it. i was hesitant as well at first.

I'm also experiencing the same issue with the filament feed, but I only bought my Da Vinci 1.0 less than a month ago so I'm surprised that something like this has happened so quickly.

The feeder cog with teeth will not move at the start of a print and I have to give the filament a push in the back of the printer a few times so it gains momentum for the duration of the print. I have no issues when loading/unloading the filament though...which I find odd.

I have contacted Customer Care but they stopped replying to my emails.
