Two Color Printing with Da Vinci Jr.

Postby Cyberbiker » Thu Sep 08, 2016 2:47 pm

This may be a bit far fetched.

I have a DaVinci Jr. Only one color of filament can be loaded at a time.
If I wanted to make a 2 colored sign, say a clear or white background with blue or red letters, would it be possible?

Method I dreamed up:

Create the .stl file from some design program, say XYZmaker.
Background is a rectangle about 130mm x 75mm x 1.5mm thick
On top of that put some letters about 1-2mm thick
Print the base.
Change the Z-Offset by the thickness of the background (add 1.5mm to the current working setting)
Load the filament for the text
Center the text in the XYZware print box
Print the text.

Would the text end up attached to the base plate?
Would the Printer be damaged by such a method?

Thanks

Make 2 stls. Base and lettering. Move the letters up by height of the base in xyzware. Print as you suggest, base, change color, letters. Should work so long as the base doesnt interfere with the homing of the printhead.

You might need to manually adjust the z-offset before starting the second print.
My experience is all DaVinci Jr. Pro. 1.0
