Scaling issues question

Postby Busybee426 » Thu May 17, 2018 8:06 am

I have a DaVinci Mini W (at home). I have experience with another brand (at work). I use Autodesk Inventor at both places for my design software. I design and output in "inches".

I'm experiencing issues when loading the design into the XYZ Printing slicer software. Something happens to alter the finished size from it's original design.

I've experimented with settings "Auto Scale" and "Import in Inches" which neither seem to help.

I'm aware that .STL files only save data as arbitrary "units" which I believe may be at the source of my scaling issues. My work printer just needs to scale up x10 to be an exact 1:1. The DaVinci seems.....different.

I would prefer to design in imperical units and I'm quite happy with the Autodesk software. Can anyone suggest something to try? I'm willing to be flexible on the Metric/imperical units.

These are some really good tips for learning about the process in detail. It is usually difficult for hostsailor selecting the scaling for the beginners and technical ideas need to be learned well. These tips will be quite useful doing the same.
