Model sizing

Postby Smaggy » Mon Jun 04, 2018 2:54 am

I found a model that comes in multiple parts (Dirk the Daring model) but the entire model comes out at about 6 inches tall.

How can I figure out the maximum size to make the model and make each part fit?

First you need to know your build plate size limitations. You also want to subtract a 1/2 inch off the X Y and Z settings. So say your build plate is capable of 5x5x5 subtract a 1/2" from that size for your model. The 1/2 will assure that the print head actually has enough room to print.

You can resize in the software by scaling the model will evenly scale.

What software are you using to edit your model? Most slicers will allow you to do this. All of the XYZ slicers have this function.
